Sydenham action star Jason Statham is kicking ass again as a hardman bodyguard with a thing for gambling.

The former GB diver stars in Wild Card, which is directed by Con Air and Expendables 2’s Simon West with a screenplay by two-time Oscar winner William Goldman (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, All the President’s Men). It is out in cinemas on March 20.

Statham, who lived in Sydenham, plays Vegas bodyguard Nick Love, who has a lethal set of skills but also a gambling problem.

When a friend is beaten by a sadistic thug, Wild strikes back only to find himself plunged into the criminal underworld. Cue smashing of scenery, guns and violence.

Wild Card also stars Sofia Vergara and Stanley Tucci.
