A misplaced moggy was reunited with its worried owners after it was found trapped inside a telephone box.

Alfie the silver tabby was found five miles away from his home in Forest Hill by a member of the public trapped inside a phone box in Canada Water, having a hissing fit.

Alfie had been missing for 10 weeks and his unfurtunate disappurrance had caused a meowntain of stress for his owners.

Alfie was then taken to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home where staff used his microchip to find his owner's details, leaving Luke Price, his owner, feline much better.

Now the cat's out the box, Luke said: "We couldn't believe it when we got a call to say Battersa had Alfie.

"We couldn't be happier to have him back in our life and hope he stays a bit closer to home this time!"

Battersea's head of cattery, Lindsey Quinlan, said that finding animals with microchips is purrfect.

She added: "When a cat like Alfie comes in and we can contact the details on the microchip, it makes our job very rewarding.

"Alfie's long journey shows the importance of microchipping your pet as you never know how far they can travel from home."

Battersea offers free microchipping for all pet owners, which help to avert all cat-astrophes and prevents them from building up a cat-alogue full of strays.
