A woman in her 80s has collapsed and died at a bus stop in Rushey Green.
Police were flagged down by members of the public at around 11:30am today (January 21) whom informed them that a woman had collapsed at a bus stop.
Members of the public tried to assist the woman until the officers got there and performed CPR.
Staff from the London Ambulance Service came across the incident and assisted with oxygen whilst the officers continued with chest compressions.
A cordon was put in place to allow officers and the paramedics to continue with treatment and to push back any onlookers.
The woman's defibrillator was showing a heart rhythm but no pulse.
Shortly after being taken to hospital, the woman was pronounced dead.
A tweet from Lewisham MPS read: "My officers and I performed CPR on a collapsed person #RusheyGreen despite our best efforts they unfortunately didn't make it."
Next of kin have been informed and the death is being treated as non suspicious.
