Lewisham will get a temporary new road this month as work continues around the Loampit Vale roundabout.

From January 24, a new road between Molesworth Street and Lewisham High Street will replace the southern section of the junction, creating a temporary extended roundabout.

The change for all road users and pedestrians, due to be completed during the night, will come into effect from 7pm on January 24. All routes and bus services previously provided by the roundabout will continue in a slightly different layout.

These temporary arrangements will remain in place throughout the year, and have been designed in cooperation with Transport for London and Lewisham Council.

A new permanent road layout and the removal of the roundabout is due to be completed and in use early next year as part of the Lewisham Gateway regeneration scheme.

The Lewisham Gateway team will also be holding an open Meet the Contractors event at Lewisham Shopping Centre on January 27 between 3pm and 5pm.
