Christmas festivities began in Lewisham on December 3 with Mayor, Sir Steve Bullock, switching on the Christmas tree lights.
The mayor was accompanied by St Mary's church choir, members of the Lewisham Central Assembly and the team behind the Lewisham Gateway.
Mince pies were served whilst the crowd enjoyed carols around the 30ft tree, gifted to Lewisham residents from Muse Developments, who are working to develop Lewisham Gateway.
Chris Coxall, projects director for Muse Developments, said: "The Christmas tree is our way of thanking the people of Lewisham for their understanding and assistance, whilst we deliver this landmark, place-making scheme."
The Lewisham Central Assembly has traditionally organised the Christmas tree but this year worked with the Lewisham Gateway team to ensure the town had a bigger and better tree than ever before.
