Each week I share my five thoughts of the week – the good, the bad and the ugly.

But, I’m not selfish, so I’m also very happy to donate the space to guest writers to have their say, so write to me using the details below.

1. People seeking to hide their past are being helped by Google. The online giant says people can now request to have certain items about themselves removed. Well, News Shopper’s newspapers and website are not going to allow unpleasant scumbags to hide from their past. We will publicise each application seeking to cover up their previous sins. Sure, people must move on, but they can’t rewrite history.

2. Remember your 18th birthday? I’m not sure I do. I know for a fact my nephew doesn’t remember his and it was only last Saturday. He says: “I’ll never drink again.” Ha, ha. But, as we know, it’s no good telling them, they have to learn these lessons for themselves.

3. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I think our Scottish neighbours should stick with us as we’re stronger together. However, if their democratic decision is to go it alone then that’s their choice. But, under no circumstances should our politicians seek to bribe them into staying with us by simply chucking more gifts at them.

4. Wow, News Shopper will be 50 years young next year. What a long way it has come in half a century. What would you like to see us do to celebrate this momentous occasion?

5. Had a great meal this week and it contained pomegranate seeds. Hadn’t had them for years and had forgotten just how good and versatile they are.
