A 22-YEAR-OLD man is set to appear in court today (June 3) after an elderly woman died in a flat fire in Deptford.

Tuan Anh Le, of no fixed abode, has been charged with the murder of Giuseppina Fazzani on May 29.

He has also been charged with two counts of arson with intent to endanger life and two counts of arson reckless as to whether life endangered.

Mrs Fazzani, known to friends as Josie, was rescued from the blaze at the former Lou's Cafe building in Deptford High Street at around 1.30am on May 29 but she was pronounced dead at the scene around 90 minutes later.

Vietnamese national Anh Le will appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court.

Four other people, two men and two women, who were arrested on Saturday as part of the investigation have been bailed pending further inquiries to a date in mid-July.

Police are trying to trace a red Peugeot 406 - registration: KP51 GKC – as part of their enquiries.

It was pictured on a petrol station forecourt on the day the fire started.

Evidence gathered so far, points to the vehicle being in the vicinity of the scene at the time of the fire.
