A GUNMAN who murdered Marlon Campbell in Bellingham following an argument will serve a minimum of 35 years in jail.

Dwayne Fulgence, aged 28, of no fixed abode, was found guilty at the Old Bailey on January 31 of the murder as well as two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger and one count of possession of ammunition.

Police had been called shortly before 9.15am on June 16 last year to reports of gunshots and a person injured in Lushington Road, Bellingham. There, they found Marlon Campbell suffering from gunshot wounds. He died the following day.

Today (February 4) Fulgence was sentenced by Judge Timothy Pontius to a life sentence with a minimum of 35 years for the murder.

He was also given a 15 year sentence for both firearms offences and six years for possession of ammunition, all to run concurrently.

Detective Inspector James Gerty, of Trident Gang Crime Command, said:
"Dwayne Fulgence is well known in the community for his criminal activities.

"The MPS takes offences of this nature seriously and will take robust action to send a clear message to those concerned in gun crime that if they are involved, in any way, they can expect to be identified and convicted for the offence."

Judge Pontious praised Marlon Campbell's family for the dignity they showed throughout the trial.

Two key witnesses were also commended as well as the officers involved in the day-to-day running of the investigation and trial.
