TWO grocery stores have received fines totalling £240 after they were found selling alcohol to underage drinkers.
The licensees of the Villa Grocery and Off Licence, Wickham Lane, Abbey Wood, and Costcutter, Avery Hill Road, Eltham, were caught selling alchohol to two 15-year-olds on October 12.
Greenwich Police issued Villa Grocery with two fixed penalty notices totalling £160 and Costcutters with one fixed penalty notice totalling £80. Both were warned they could face prosecution if they are caught breaking the law again.
The fines were part of Operation Grape and Operation Blunt, which is run by Greenwich Council and the police to ensure licensing laws are being upheld.
