AN ANXIOUS mother is calling for better protection on an estate after a teenage girl was held at gunpoint by a gang.

Brenda Whitby, 39, says something needs to be done to stop an "out of control" gang of black youths on the Ferrier Estate, Kidbrooke.

They also beat up her two teenage daughters, Nicola and Joanne.

The so-called Ferrier Boys attacked the girls in two separate incidents over the past four weeks.

On July 18, Nicola and her friend Kelly, 14, were in Teleman Square when they were surrounded by more than 20 youths.

One of them approached 14-year-old Nicola and poured a bottle of water over her before punching and kicking her to the ground.

Kelly then had a handgun held to her head and was asked: "What have you got for me?"

She had her bag taken before the girls managed to escape.

A similar incident happened to 16-year-old Joanne on July 5.

She was taking her friend to a bus stop in Dover Patrol Road, Kidbrooke, when she was punched.

Nicola, a pupil at Eltham Green Secondary School, said: "It was such a shock what happened to us and I am relieved we are all OK.

"Something needs to be done to stop this gang as it could get a lot worse."

Mrs Whitby said: "It is very worrying. This gang is out of control. What are they prepared to do next? The police should do more to protect youngsters."

PC Richard Strable, from the Ferrier's safer neighbourhood team, said: "We would encourage anyone to get in touch with us who may have witnessed these two incidents or anything else related to this gang."
