SPORTY youngsters in Greenwich are being offered the chance of regular athletics and football coaching from top trainers free of charge.
Hot on the heels of the highly successful Met-Track sports day last month, which attracted hundreds of youngsters to Sutcliffe Park, Eltham Road, Kidbrooke, comes a new coaching initiative.
All the young people who attended this year's event were given a PasSport, inviting them to carry on with their efforts and to keep a record of how they progress.
Now, all interested youngsters can get athletics coaching at Sutcliffe Park's athletics track every Friday at 4.30pm, or football coaching at the park at 5pm every Monday.
Met-Track was developed by Superintendent John Powell from Bexley police, who is also an Olympic coach, as a way of getting young people interested in sport and getting fit.
He said: "The squads are really informal, fun and who knows what talent might be unveiled in the process. Anyone aged 11 to 17 can go along."
