TRANSPORT bosses are considering plans to build a new river crossing, to ease congestion problems for rush-hour motorists.
London's Transport Commissioner, Peter Hendy, says he will look into the possibility of building a new tunnel at Blackwall.
The new crossing which would link Blackwall Point to Silvertown, north of the river would be the third river crossing in the area.
Greenwich London Assembly member Len Duvall says it would help traffic flows for motorists coming into the borough.
He added: "The planning for this link must start now and money has to be identified."
Transport for London is expected to complete a review of the proposed link next month.
