THE history of Blackheath Village will be brought back to life thanks to a new trail and guide.
The Blackheath Society has published a pocket-sized book, detailing the history behind the buildings and shops found in the village, which dates back to 1790.
It's a Wrap gift shop in Montpelier Vale, for example, was for most of the last century, the Express Dairy, which used to have cows' heads hanging above its window.
The trail guide, defined by the 20mph zone, was written by historian Neil Rhind and architectural journalist Tony Aldous.
It is hoped it will be of interest to members, residents and schools.
Lewisham's deputy mayor and ward councillor Gavin Moore said: "The Blackheath Society's expertise and unparalleled knowledge has brought this history to life in their fascinating new Village Trail and Guide."
