THE family of Elliott Forde who was killed in a hit-and-run accident nearly two years ago are using a psychic to trace the driver.

Six-year-old Elliott was riding a bicycle with friends just yards from his home in Arica Road, Brockley, when he was knocked down by a white van on August 22, 2002. His life-support machine was later switched off at King's College Hospital.

And now his parents, Miguel Forde, 35, and Nicci Stone, 36, have called upon clairvoyant Dennis McKenzie, who worked with the family of Holly Wells after the Soham murders, to help them get justice.

All attempts to trace the driver and vehicle have so far failed. This is despite a £55,000 reward, which includes a £30,000 pledge from Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson, £10,000 from the Crimestoppers' Trust and £15,000 from friends.

But Elliott's parents have been given fresh hope following a meeting with Mr McKenzie on Thursday. The psychic gave Soham police a series of clues pointing to killer Ian Huntley.

Greenwich police have confirmed they now have new leads. But, for operational reasons, could not disclose the information.

Mr Forde said: "It now seems quite possible we will catch the killer. Almost two years have gone by. But the quiz still has to be solved.

"As far as I'm concerned this person watched Elliott die in his rear view mirror. And then he just drove off. That's disgusting. But now hopefully we can get some answers."

Yesterday Mr McKenzie was due to accompany police to the spot where Elliott was knocked down in a bid to pick up further clues.

Sergeant Gary Morant, who is leading the investigation, said: "Anything which gives us a new focus or direction is good. We will continue to conduct inquiries into these new leads until we can prove or disprove what Mr McKenzie has said."
