AMATEUR cartoonists are being given the chance to make the whole of London laugh.

Comic scribblers could have their work shown around the capital and on the Tube as part of a contest linked to the London Comedy Festival.

Mayor Ken Livingstone launched the competition with cartoonist Martin Rowson at City Hall last week, with Mr Rowson caricaturing the mayor announcing plans for the rebirth of Crystal Palace park.

The closing date for the London Toon contest is March 23, in time for the festival in May.

Festival director Mick Bateman said: "We are giving everyone the chance to have their works enjoyed by millions."
