A DANGEROUS criminal who took part in a string of violent robberies has been jailed for 10 years.

Jamie Fraser, aged 30, of Faversham Road, Catford, netted £5,000 after targeting bookmakers, off-licences and jewellers across south east London, Blackfriars Crown Court heard on February 2.

The gun-toting criminal was accompanied by an unnamed knife-wielding accomplice on each of the six raids.

The violent pair's first target was Coombes Bookmakers, in Trafalgar Road, Greenwich, on August 22 last year.

Prosecuting, Mark Gadsden said: "They approached the counter and demanded everyone get down on the floor before ordering staff to open a side door.

"The staff refused and one man grabbed an elderly customer from the floor and put a knife to his throat, demanding the door be opened or he would slit his throat.

"Fraser was pointing the gun at the witnesses telling everyone to stay on the floor, the safe was opened and money was taken."

They then struck five days later at a Ladbrokes betting shop, in Maple Road, Penge. And they targeted a nearby Threshers wine shop, in Wickham Road, Shirley, on the same day.

Cashier Gemma Campbell had the gun pushed into her stomach by Fraser, who gave her a five-second count down to open the safe or "have her head blown off".

Their next target was Corals, in Nunhead Lane, Peckham. The following day, on September 5, they marched into Simon Marks Jewellers, in Passey Place, Eltham.

Mr Gadsden said: "As the robbery was in progress a watchmaker came out from the back office and a struggle ensued.

"Fraser was struck with a metal bar, causing his head to bleed, which led to DNA linking him to the crime scene."

The robbers' final target was a Ladbrokes, in Burnt Ash Road, Lee, where Fraser again brandished his gun before making off with cash from the safe.

But he was caught on a CCTV camera and later arrested.

He took officers to the imitation handgun which he had buried near his home.

Fraser pleaded guilty to one charge of conspiracy to rob and one charge of conspiracy to have a firearm or imitation firearm with intent.
