COCONUT shies, maypole dancing and historical
re-enactments entertained the crowds who flocked to a fair on May Day.
The sun shone down as visitors at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich watched performances by morris dancers and enjoyed eating hog roast and candy floss.
This year's theme was the history of the college,
and the Historical Maritime Society gave families a taste of life in Nelson's navy with cannon fire and musket demonstrations.
Greenwich Foundation visitor services manager April Hollier said there were around 10,000 visitors to the event.
She said: "We had lots of families. We had really great weather, we couldn't have asked for any better. Last year we had a complete downpour."
Elizabethan music was played and children competed for the title of May King and Queen by dressing up in
costumes symbolising springtime.

The fair also marked the public launch of Discover Greenwich, the new education centre for the college and Maritime Greenwich, which is due to open late next year.
