Dancers Ceroc and roll to film music
The team of 10 dancers perform the winning routine
The team of 10 dancers perform the winning routine

DRESSED in black and white and performing to a medley of James Bond tunes, a group of dancers wowed judges at a national dance competition.

The team of 10 dancers scooped first prize in the team cabaret section at the annual Ceroc Dance Championships.

They included Greenwich-based dancers Cassy Lands, 31, of Kingsground, Eltham, and Jamie Moore, 34, from east London.

The team's performance featured a Bucks Fizz-style costume change in which the girls' pink dresses were ripped off to reveal black and white costumes.

Ceroc is a style of dance based on modern jive.

More than 1,500 people turned out to watch the championships at the Troxy in east London.

Russell Saxby, 36, who teaches Ceroc classes in Greenwich and was a member of the winning team, said: "The Ceroc Championships is by far the most important title for me and I am thrilled to have been a member of the winning team."

Classes for people aged over 18 are held at West Greenwich Community Centre, High Road, Greenwich.
