Kids will still get on buses without a card and theirs nothing drivers can do as you are not allowed to chuck a kid of a bus.What you have to do is fill out a lengthy form.so once again these lowlifes will get away with it

You obviously aint travelled on the 96 or 422 - some kids have genuine excuses why the cards dont work -the chip gets bent etc - the other morning in the pouring rain - the jobsworth bus driver turfed off a girl of about 12 cos her card never bleeped - she looked about to burst into tears when a kind lady paid her fare for her.

At last!!! My youngest has had her photo oyster card since she started secondary school in sept 2007.. Yes I agree some Drivers are jobs worth and need MORE TRAINING etc..(common sense they say is not common)I say the children should just be able to show the card, as you would a 1 day travel card, my children know how to look after theirs otherwise what is the alternative "WALK" learning responsibilty never hurt anyone...another rule I believe should be brought in is NO child under the age of 10 be able to travel on a bus after 7.30pm without a parent/responsible adult. In the summer months children just roam on buses for the hell of it making trouble etc..

PS. I travel the 178 bus every day and I know what I'm talking about... Thomas Tallis, Blackheath Bluecoats, Kidbrooke and John Roan

When you was kids of course you never went scrumping or played knock down ginger, or football in the street,or bundle onto the bus when it arrived at your school bus stop, all of which would be classed as unsociable behaviour in todays snobby stuck up its own arse society.
Now I'll sit back and watch as the whiter than white brigade start with their rants about how perfect they was as children and how their crap dont stink like everyone else....thats why we needed a police force back then just as we do today, if you was all so well behaved then we wouldnt need coppers, then or now would we, funny how you never hear anyone on here say, " my kids a little **** and out of control isnt it ! But anyone thats had kids ( yes im a father of 4 ty, now watch as they attack my parenting skills without even knowing me or my children) will know that the truth is a completely different matter, ALL kids have temper tantrums as toddlers, its called the terrible twos, Just as all teens have moody natures,this is part of growing up, its completely natural,its the same today as it was ten twenty thirty forty or even fifty years ago and anyone who tries to kid us into thinking their child/children, is any different is a liar, or their kids a freak of nature...so keep up the good work with the bull crap, you never know, maybe one day you will even kid yourselfs into believing its true !
Most of these children will eventually grow up into being mature adults that contribute greatly to our society, the simple fact is, we expect them to behave like adults yet treat them with contempt and as children, yet todays children are forced to grow up faster than they ever have been before, more pressure is placed on these kids of today to do well than ever before, but are they listened to ? are they ever considered when decisions are made to do with their lifes ? no they are totally ignored whilst the people who treat them with so much contempt decide their fate and their futures ! and we wonder why they rebel, as a grown up you wouldnt like to be treated that way, you only have to look at the openong of bail hostels in lewisham and the reaction that has bought to see adults dont like to be treated like children, yet we want our children to be adults have responsibilty, yet still treat them like children.
Time to climb down off your poncy high horse and get to grips with the real world and not that dream fantasy world you lot from the whiter than white brigade live in.

I am a 41 year old Mother who has brought up a her children to respect their elders, surroundings, other peoples property etc... I can honestly say my two well brought up children have never given me a days trouble!!! Thats the problem with todays society, children grow up too fast.. My daughter started secondary school last sept in the first two months she came home with so many questions eg.. "whats a Blow Job" do you think "who do you think u r" needs to know what that is at 11?.. My kids are not freaks, the are the exception and NO WHO THEY ARE!!!

Not quite sure what this post has to do with children needing Oyster cards to travel on buses?
I think the previous poster is correct children do need to learn to be responsible for their belongings, however, anyone adult or child can have an accident, lose a card bend it etc etc. lets be sensible here - or maybe this is evidence as to why some of these teenagers behave as they do?

I agree lou, "who do you think u r" was responding to me bragging about my kids!!(17 & 11) The total cost for these oyster cards is £9.50 incl photo so my children know to take a little more care and look after them.I work hard as do many people do for their money!!! So to that person who said my kids are freaks...my 17 year old who goes to college just got a job 9hrs a week to earn some money towards driving lesson's car, tax & insurance!! Hows that for responsibility!!not expecting hand outs from me!! SO PROUD!!!

Well seid i agree with everything you have wrote and iam sorry to say my angel my eldest is a little s..t also so your not on your own, but as you say if more parents would take notice and come out of the dream world they are in they would help their kids more.

everyone can say what they want but tell me one thing is it right for under 16's to be on a bus after 6 pm on their own, getting on the busses like a herd of dogs through the back door while paying customers has to get off, opening the engine boot of the bus at bus stops,fighting on busses, spitting at drivers, intimidating passengers, grafitti's, listening to loud music which nobody especially oap dont understands, throw bricks on busses and thats just a small list i can go on and on with it anyone interested.
