A GANG attacked a man outside Blackheath Rugby Club before getting away in a car.
The 23-year-old black victim is seriously ill in hospital after the attack which took place between 5.30pm and 6pm last Sunday (March 16).
He was beaten up by the group of four or five black men just outside the club in Rectory Field, Lizban Street, Blackheath, after having an argument with them.
They are all believed to be in their early 20s.
A car, which is believed to belong to the attackers, was seen leaving the scene.
It is a two-door dark coloured car with a dent in the passenger side and it is missing a wing mirror.
