A RAPIST who carried out a terrifying attack on a teenager he befriended has been jailed.

Dwayne Desa was found guilty of raping the 18-year-old and was sentenced to seven years in prison.

The 28-year-old, of Arthur Grove, Woolwich, met the woman, who had recently arrived in the UK from France, last year.

On November 1 last year, they went out for drinks and ended the night at Desa's flat.

He encouraged the victim to to sleep in his bed, which she did fully dressed.

However, Desa asked her for sex and, when she refused, he pinned her down and raped her twice.

When he let her leave the flat, he followed her to make sure she did not report the attack to the police or tell anyone else.

But two weeks later she went to the police.

Desa was arrested and denied the allegations, but yesterday (Nov 22) a jury at Woolwich Crown Court found him guilty.

DC Phil Lund, from Greenwich Sapphire Unit, which investigates sexual offences, said: "I am really pleased with the outcome of our investigation.

"Desa abused the trust of the victim and subjected her to a painful and humiliating attack. His freedom has now been taken away and our community will be a safer place as a result."
