A LIBERAL Democrat councillor plans to submit a motion against a decision to move post offices to branches of WH Smith.
Lewisham Councillor Chris Maines has proposed the motion, seconded by Councillor John Russell, to oppose plans to move post offices in Forest Hill and Lewisham.
The motion will ask for a thorough consultation to be carried out so residents' views are considered before any further decision is made.
It also calls for Lewisham Mayor Steve Bullock to ask Post Office and WH Smith representatives to meet the council to explain the move and the impact it will have on staff.
Cllr Russell said: "We are concerned the decision has been taken without any consultation with the authority or with councillors.
"We hope to get all-party support in the council for this motion and it will be successful."
The motion is due to be submitted to the full council at the Civic Suite, Rushey Green, on May 23.
