A NEW prison could be built next to Belmarsh prison, Home Secretary John Reid announced this morning.
The Government has purchased the site and is in discussions with Greenwich Council about planning permission for a new facility
The Home Office plans to provide 10,000 new places in the next five years.
This year around 2,500 new places are planned.
