THE owners of a 116-year-old pie business have served their last customer.
Jeff Goddard, 38, and his brother Kane, 34, closed Goddard's Pie House, Greenwich Church Street, Greenwich, at the weekend.
They are moving to new premises in Kent where they will concentrate on providing pies to pubs and restaurants.
The business has been supplying customers with traditional meat and ale pies since 1890, when it was located in Evelyn Street, Deptford.
The Goddard's grandfather Bob opened a shop in Greenwich in 1952 at the same time the Cutty Sark was placed in dry dock.
Jeff said: "He realised the whole area had potential.
"The decision to close has been made with mixed emotion. It's a real wrench."
He added: "The shop has been a huge part of mine and my brother's life.
"It has become a landmark for the town centre and become popular with customers. But we wanted to put our families first."
