LICENSING chiefs have delayed a decision about whether to revoke the licence of a shop caught selling booze to underage teenagers.
The licensing committee at Greenwich Council adjourned a hearing to review the licence of the Villa Grocery and Off Licence, Wickham Lane, Abbey Wood.
Licensee Aseervatham Yogarajah was given two fixed penalty notices totalling £160 after two 15-year-olds were sold drink in an undercover sting by police and Greenwich Council.
But now the licensing committee at the council wants more information from police about the shop before making a ruling.
Residents living near the shop say underage youths are using the place to buy booze. They claim the youngsters then create a nuisance.
Christine Kavanagh, 53, of Villa Court Road, Plumstead, submitted a 190-signature petition to Greenwich Council calling for the council to revoke the shop's alcohol licence. More than 20 letters have also been submitted.
A new hearing date is expected to be scheduled for later this month.
