A PIZZA restaurant which people claimed would see noisy motorbikes causing mayhem on quiet streets has had its appeal turned down.
Four hundred people signed a petition last year to stop Domino’s Pizza opening up a branch at the Old Bank Italian restaurant in Honor Oak.
After their application was turned down by Lewisham Council planners, the fast food chain appealed the decision.
But now that has also been rejected by the Planning Inspectorate, which ruled the business would find it difficult to operate without breaking traffic rules and causing a noise nuisance.
Deputy Mayor of Lewisham Councillor Alan Smith said: “This is a great result for the community.
“The council is of the view that the proposal put forward would have had a serious impact on highway safety and would have cause noise nuisance to residents.”
