STUDENTS at Goldsmiths University are attempting to stop management staff getting into a college building in their protest against tuition fees and cuts.

Around 50 students stormed into the Deptford Town Hall building yesterday afternoon and have remained there all night.

It was in response to yesterday's announcement that the tuition fee cap will be nearly trebled - up to £9,000.

And the protestors are also angry at other cuts to university spending.

The students have set up a website called Save Goldsmiths University where they are regularly updating the protest and ex-students are leaving messages of support.

A number of speakers are expected to join them today including Leila Galloway who is leading a campaign to stop Tidemill School becoming an academy.
