A 46-YEAR-OLD man has been jailed for eight years after being found guilty of a rape committed more than 18 years ago.
Kadar Bouohut, an Algerian national, was convicted at Southwark Crown Court for raping a woman during the early hours of New Year's Day in 1992.
Bouohut was caught after his DNA matched samples taken from the victim’s clothing.
The court heard the woman, who was 47 at the time, took a night bus home after celebrating at Trafalgar Square.
Bouohut, who denied rape, followed her onto the bus and got off at the same stop as the victim in Plumstead Common.
She tried to run away but he tracked her down before holding what she believed was a knife to her throat. He then raped her.
