FIREFIGHTERS are urging people to take extra care in the kitchen.
As part of the London Fire Brigade’s Cooksafe campaign firefighters will be visiting Eddystone Tower in Oxestalls Road, Deptford, on September 9 to talk to people about fire safety.
There will also be an open day at Forest Hill Fire Station in Stanstead Road on September 11.
Borough Commander for Lewisham Lee King, said: “Kitchen fires are a real concern for us and the most frustrating thing is they can usually be prevented. Simple mistakes often lead to serious fires.
“Most people think it won’t happen to them but the figures speak for themselves, it can happen and it has to more than 800 people in our borough”.
