TWO radio stations have been awarded broadcasting licences.
The five-year licences, handed out by communications regulator Ofcom, go to not-for-profit stations aimed at particular communities.
Greenwich Kasapah, which is to broadcast on the AM radio band, will be a primarily speech-based service aimed at African people in and around the borough.
It will also run outreach and training sessions with schools in the area.
Reprezent FM, based in New Cross, will broadcast to 13 to 25-year-olds in south London, aiming to challenge negative perceptions about young people.
Sydenham Community Radio, Lewisham’s Starpoint FM and Greenwich’s Talk Africa Radio had their licence applications turned down.
