VOLUNTEERS went on a litter-picking blitz as they gave a river a much-needed sprucing up.
Around 45 residents donned their wellies to clean up a stretch of the River Ravensbourne at Ladywell Fields, Malyons Road, Ladywell.
Everything from old prams and traffic cones to shopping trolleys and dumped clothing were fished out by the volunteers.
The event was organised by environmental charity Thames21 in a bid to make the river more environmentally friendly.
Organiser Vic Richardson said: "Regular clean-ups help to protect wildlife habitats and also benefit people who use this lovely open space."
Thames21, which was formed 10 years ago, is a registered charity which organises regular clean-ups of rivers across the capital.
