A TRADER is doing his bit to preserve the character of Greenwich by opening a stall devoted to celebrating its rich history.
Kareem Khodeir, who has had an art and craft stall at the market before, says he has launched the Official Greenwich Market Stall to raise public awareness of the atmospheric market.
Recently News Shopper has reported fears the market could be threatened under plans mooted by landowner the Greenwich Hospital Trust.
Mr Khodeir said: "Our market is striking, atmospheric and almost hypnotic.
"My intention is to establish a permanent stall celebrating the massive public affection for the market."
The stall will be selling 100 prints of the covered market, designed by artist Andy Millns, entitled One-Way'.
"My goal is to sell 100 limited editions on large canvasses, but the 100th will be giant-sized and auctioned in the market," he added.
Mr Khodeir says he hopes to give some of the proceeds to struggling shopkeepers in the town centre.
