Solar panels lighting up life in the classroom

A GROUNDBREAKING environmental project is bringing sunshine into the lives of schoolchildren.

Stillness Infant School, Brockley Rise, Forest Hill, is the first public building in Lewisham to be fitted with a solar-panelled roof.

The school has worked with Lewisham Council to develop the energy-saving measure.

The new roof is linked to a computer system.

The pupils are kept up-to-date with how much electricity and carbon dioxide is being saved.

Teacher Janet Hurst, who has been heavily involved in the project, said: "If every public building followed our lead it would make a world of difference."
