LEWISHAM: Free garden waste recycling service

PEOPLE are being reminded to take advantage of a council’s free garden waste service.

Residents from Lewisham must place the garden waste in plastic or reusable bags and take them to one of four locations around the borough.

Flowers and plants, grass clippings, hedge trimmings, leaves, and twigs and branches up to four inches in diameter will all be accepted.

But kitchen waste, vegetable peelings, soil, turf, stones or Japanese knotweed will not be accepted.

There are collection points in Girton Road Car Park, Sydenham, and at the Riddons Road junction with Mayeswood Road in Grove Park.

Waste can also be dropped off outside the Orange Café in Kitto Road, New Cross, and Laurence House Car Park in Catford.

The sites will be available from 9am until noon on Saturdays and Sundays until November 28.
