A COUPLE are quitting their city jobs to cycle 12,000 miles to New Zealand for charity.
Tom Hudson, 28, grew up in Lewisham but now lives in North London with his 29-year-old girlfriend Jodie Burton.
They hope to raise £10,000 by riding from Twickenham Stadium on May 1 to Auckland in New Zealand in time for the Rugby World Cup in September next year.
Their journey will take them across 18 countries where they will meet up with other rugby clubs along the way.
Their first stop will be Footscray Rugby Club on Footscray Road, New Eltham, on May 1.
Miss Burton, said: “We both felt like we needed a new challenge. We wanted to get out of the rat race and wanted to do something before we hit 30.”
The couple are raising money for Rays of Sunshine charity, which turns dreams into reality for children with terminal illness.
They are also donating money to Australian charity, David Bland Ride for Life, which raises awareness of the importance of organ donation.
