A 35-YEAR-OLD man was stabbed to death during a drugs deal at his flat, the Old Bailey heard today (Mar 16).
Sunny Eze was found dead in a pool of blood in his kitchen at Vyvyan House, Campbell Close, Shooters Hill, on March 4 last year.
A post-mortem examination showed the Nigerian national had been stabbed three times, with one knife blow entering his chest cavity.
In his opening statement, prosecutor Brian Altman told the court Mr Eze's flat had been used to manufacture cocaine and crack.
He claimed that Michael Henry, aged 39, from Brixton, and Mark Brown, aged 35, from Thornton Heath, had killed Mr Eze while trying to rob him of drugs.
A friend of the victim, Olisaemeka Chibuzo, claimed in police interviews to have witnessed the murder.
Mr Chibuzo made two 999 calls from phone boxes in the area that evening and was later interviewed by police on two occasions.
He told officers that after meeting Mr Eze in Thamesmead that day, the pair travelled to Wellington Street in Woolwich where they met Brown and Henry.
The four men drove back to Mr Eze's flat, where a drug deal was due to take place, the witness told police.
Once inside, Mr Eze and Henry went into the kitchen while Brown went to use the toilet.
When Brown came out he was holding a gun and ordered Mr Chibuzo to the floor, the court heard.
Mr Chibuzo told police Mr Eze was kneeling on the kitchen floor saying: “Take it all, take it all.”
He claimed the two other men were shouting: “Is this it?”
The two men then allegedly tried to leave but, finding the door locked, went back and demanded keys.
Mr Altman told the jury: “Mr Eze got up and he tried grabbing the gun."
He went on: “Whilst they were struggling the second male was positioned behind Sunny Eze.”
Mr Chibuzo claimed he saw Henry “repeatedly bringing the knife down on to Mr Eze's back.”
The court heard three other men then broke down the front door and the group fled the scene with drugs and money.
Henry and Brown both deny murder and robbery.
Brown also denies possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
The trial continues.
