THE elderly had a whale of a time at a charity’s monthly Sunday afternoon tea party.
Contact the Elderly is a charity which organises the parties for people aged over 75, who live alone with little or no social support.
Tea parties are held in the homes of volunteer hosts while those attending are driven by other volunteers.
On only its second outing, the Lewisham group of six pensioners went to host Holly Ryan’s house in Courthill Road, Hither Green for an afternoon of tea, home-made cakes, biscuits and sandwiches.
Ms Ryan, 32, said: “Contact the Elderly offers opportunities for the elderly to leave the house, mingle with like-minded people, compare stories from the past and bask in some much deserved hospitality.
“It was an immensely enjoyable afternoon and I very much look forward to welcoming the group back into my home.”
