LEWISHAM: Quaggy Carnival fills streets with colour

A CARNIVAL parade filled the streets with colour for the ninth year.

Revellers toured the Coldbath, Orchard, Heathside and Lethbridge estates in Lewisham for the annual Quaggy Carnival on July 4.

The parade was followed by live music and dance groups in the grounds of Morden Mount Primary School, Lewisham Road, Lewisham.

According to organisers of the event, the Quaggy Development Trust, around 1,000 residents attended the free event, which is run entirely by volunteers.

Organiser Angela Kadri said: “The carnival is the one day in the year when the community can all come together and enjoy themselves.

“It’s just giving something back to the community.”
