POLICE are appealing for help from the capital's Polish community to help identify a man found dead on a bus in Brockley.

The man, who is believed to be of Polish origin and aged between 20 and 30, was found dead on the top deck of a route 171 bus in Brockley at 7am on January 19 by a fellow passenger.

CCTV footage showed him boarding the bus at 12.30am at Queen's Park station in north west London.

The man was at least 5ft 10in tall and of muscular build.

He was wearing a grey zip-up anorak, a blue tracksuit with a stripe down the side, T-shirt and white trainers and was carrying a bag.

The man's death is not believed to be suspicious.

Officers from Lewisham are anxious to trace anyone who might know him.

PC Chris Brown, of the missing persons unit at Lewisham, said: “We have followed several lines of inquiry to formally identify this man, but have so far had no luck.

"The only clue to his identify at present is a gym card he was carrying bearing the name Pawet Modzelewski. It was a Fitness First card for the Acton Oaks branch of the gym.

"We are anxious to trace anyone who may have known him and would appeal particularly to members of the Polish community, as the name on his gym card is probably of Polish origin."

Anyone who might have the man should contact PC Brown on 020 8284 8450 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
