Child safety campaign launched

A CHILD safety scheme has been launched to help youngsters stay safe in a large shopping centre.

The Little Shopper Stay Safe project, designed to help parents find their children easily if they become separated, was officially launched at Lewisham Shopping Centre in Molesworth Street on August 2.

Free wristbands are now available which parents can use to attach emergency contact information to their child.

The wristband comes with a special instructions telling parents what to do if they get separated from their youngster and includes a special telephone helpline.

A spokesman for the developer, Land Securities, which has organised the scheme for its shopping centre, said: "The fear of children going missing is thankfully much greater than the reality.

"This is just the sort of scheme to help ensure they have a carefree and enjoyable experience with us."

Wristbands are available at the shopping centre's information desk.
