A RECORD 157 competitors from across London made a splash at this year's Clash of the Tritons aquathlon.
The challenge, at Eltham College, Mottingham, comprises a 500m swim and a 5km run. For children aged 11 to 14 there is a 250m swim and 2km run.
Organised by the Greenwich Tritons Triathlon Club, the event is part of British Triathlon's London League.
Race organiser Ed Simpson says the aquathlon, now in its fourth year, was a huge success.
He said: "It's a great event for people of all ages and abilities."
This year also saw the largest turnout for the children's race, with 20 competitors, and Mr Simpson says he hopes there will be more next year.
He added: "It's through grassroots events such as this we'll encourage the budding Olympic 2012 competitors."
