A GROUP against the use of an historic park for the Olympic equestrian events has handed over its 13,200-signature petition.
The petition against holding cross country horse-riding in 2012 at Greenwich Park was presented at 10 Downing Street by members of NOGOE (No to Greenwich Olympic Equestrian Events).
Copies of the document have also been given to Greenwich Council, UNESCO, the International Olympic Committee and Mayor of London Boris Johnson.
The group is concerned that holding the event will cause damage to the site and create traffic chaos in the area.
Group co-ordinator John Hine said: “Our signatories, mainly among users of the park, include 80 per cent from south-east London postcodes.
“They are determined to save this World Heritage Site from damage and closures.”
