News Shopper: Petts Wood Pharmacy Carer Award News Shopper and Petts Wood Pharmacy are proud to launch the new Carers Award. We want you to nominate someone who you think is most deserving of a £1,000 prize in recognition of the work they do.

The person must be an unpaid carer in the Bromley borough who gives help and support to someone who, due to disability, illness or frailness, is unable to manage living in their own home without help. He or she can care for a spouse, partner, children, parent, sibling, other relatives, neighbours or friends. They can be any age, and can live with or apart from the person they care for.

News Shopper: Carer Award 2013 To nominate a carer fill in all the details on the entry form below. Entries must be in by March 22 2013.

A judging panel will narrow the entries down to a shortlist and then pick the winner. The prize will be presented at an awards ceremony in Petts Wood.

The Petts Wood Pharmacy opened 3 years ago, and the Dhillon family has been greatly impressed by the kindness of local patients and their carers. To demonstrate further support to carers and the disabled, the first Petts Wood Pharmacy Community Award will be awarded to a local carer. A £1000 prize will be awarded as follows:

Criteria
The Petts Wood Pharmacy Carer Award will recognise the unpaid carer whose efforts in providing care to someone else are, in the opinion of the judges, particularly exceptional and deserving of additional recognition. This may be through overcoming particular difficulties or barriers, tackling specific challenges, having addressed unusual or unexpected circumstances, or having been particularly creative or innovative in finding a solution to a challenge or problem to the benefit of the person they are caring for.

For the awards a carer is defined as someone who:
• Gives help and support to someone who, due to disability, illness or frailness, is unable to manage living in their own home without help
• Could look after spouses, partners, children, parent(s), sibling(s), other relatives, neighbours and friends
• Are unpaid, could be any age, and could live with or apart from the person they care for.
