Hospital patients warned over Olympic travel
10:20am Tuesday 10th July 2012 in Health News By Mark Chandler
HOSPITAL patients are being warned to make allowances for heavy traffic during the Olympics.
Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust says it will issue regular online advice via its lewisham.nhs.uk website and @LewishamHealth twitter account.
Due to increased traffic during the Games themselves, patients are being recommended to allow extra time and plan their journeys in advance.
The Olympic torch will also travel through Lewisham from 7.30am to 9am on July 23, causing disruption to the road network.
There will be road blocks in place at this time, which will cause severe congestion for up to an hour both on the main High Street going through Lewisham and Catford and on some side roads.
If you need to travel to the Hospital or Kaleidoscope that morning, the trust advises you to travel by train, cycle or foot. Congestion on the roads will severely disrupt journeys by car and bus.
