A BROMLEY mother who had three premature births has helped write a new guide for parents in the same situation.
Louisa Caroline-Hines, 45, of Foxbury Road, Bromley, contributed to the free book “Having a Premature Baby” produced by the charity Tommy’s, which funds research into pregnancy problems.
The mother of two, who delivered her first baby Logan 10 weeks early, knows how daunting a premature baby can be. She said: “It was a complete shock when my waters broke at 28 weeks. It was very frightening.
“All the nurses were good at helping us as much as possible but it would have been useful to have some mother’s experience.
“When I had Logan there wasn’t a good deal of help. I scoured the bookshelves but there wasn’t anything out there at that time.
“It’s a fantastic book. I only wish it had been around when I had my son. It answers all the questions you might not want to ask the doctor because you think they’re silly.”
Mrs Caroline-Hines went on to have two further premature births, with babies Randall and Bess being born too soon too survive.
After being diagnosed with an incompetent cervix, she was given a stitch by Tommy's to help her carry her daughter Cicely to full term.
She said: "Tommy's are such a fantastic charity. With their help we are a complete family."
The 94-page book is available to order for free at tommys.org
