In response to C Pope's letter (Hunting Ban Must Be Enforced By Police, News Shopper, May 2), I think it is high time somebody spoke up on behalf of hens. I wonder if your correpondent watched a recent TV programme illustrating the life of urban foxes in North London? In one scene we were shown the aftermath following the forced entry by a fox, or foxes, into a hen enclosure. The poor hens must have been terrorised beyond imagination before being ruthlessly exterminated by the cuddly fox. Personally I think the police have got it right and should continue to concentrate their efforts on fighting real crime.
