THE Olympic spirit fuelled mental health patients as they took part in a dance event.

Three workshops were organised by dance company JumpStartMove, one in each of Oxleas NHS Trust’s acute mental health units: Bromley’s Green Parks House; Bexley’s Woodlands Unit and Greenwich’s Oxleas House.

These events were linked by a symbolic ‘torch’ representing the symbol of the forthcoming Olympics.

The ‘torch’ was used as a container to gather comments from people about what they enjoyed about the experience.

And the comments about the Big Dance event will now be turned into collages to go on display.

Senior occupational therapist Helen Garrod, who co-ordinated the event, said: "This is the start of the cultural Olympiad and Big Dance celebrates dance not just locally but across the whole of the United Kingdom."
