Boris Johnson urges rethink over Deptford 'super sewer'

A snowy protest against the plans earlier this year
LONDON'S current mayor Boris Johnson has urged Thames Water to think again over building part of a £4.1bn "super sewer" in Deptford.
An access chamber for the project could be built off Church Street, with building work on the site closing its green space for three years.
The plan has led to protests from people in the area, along with politicians.
In a letter to the company, Mr Johnson urged an alternative site to be found, saying: "This site is adjacent to a school and on one of the few open spaces in this deprived area of London.
"The site will also impact on a busy section of the road network which is also an important bus route."
The comments of Mr Johnson, who stands for re-election next month, come weeks after the consultation closed.
A Thames Water spokesman said: "We'll be looking very carefully at all the points raised in his letter."
