The Met Police says it is liaising closely with West Ham and Millwall to ensure this weekend’s fixture will be safe and trouble-free.
Met officers and the the British Transport Police have agreed a pan-London operation that will be put in place around Saturday’s match.
Police officers will be at Upton Park and throughout London for the duration of the game providing a robust presence at the stadium and reassurance for the local community in Newham.
They will also employ a range of tactics to identify and target potential troublemakers.
A spokesman said there was no information at present to suggest that acts of organised disorder are planned Fans from both West Ham and Millwall are being reminded that this will be a family match and that there will be no tickets available for purchase on the match day.
Anyone without a ticket for the event should not travel to the game.
Chief Superintendent Sean Vickers, Borough Commander for Newham and Match Commander for the event, said: "The Met has a great deal of experience in policing high-profile football matches in London and whilst we want everyone to enjoy this game we will not tolerate any troublemakers.
"We have been working closely with Millwall and West Ham for several months and together we know we can deliver an event that legitimate football fans will enjoy.
"We appreciate a healthy rivalry between clubs but anything which deviates from this will be dealt with quickly and robustly. There will be no excuses; if you are intent on trouble you will be targeted by our officers and dealt with."
