Sex-obsessed moths are invading the UK for the summer and they are on the hunt for a one-night stand.

The warmer months can affect us in very different ways, some of us choose to down Aperol Spritz on a daily basis and some moths wake up and get on the hunt for sex.

A large number of poplar hawks or Laothoe populi have been spotted in the UK and people are squealing in horror at the size of them (and these aren’t even the biggest).

Their wingspan is between 6cm and 10cm, so we can understand why you might cry if you found one in your bedroom - but there is nothing to worry about.

Wildlife experts are assuring people these insects are completely harmless and only exist to have sex once.

These flying beasts don’t even get a rest afterwards, they die immediately after sex, so even if you see one it is unlikely it will be around for long.

These moths are mostly seen between August and September, basking in the heat like Love Island contestants looking for “love”.

The moths cannot bite you, they don’t even eat, they exist to mate and that’s it.
